The Cave, Los Angeles, 1960

I had left home in Claremont, moved into a house in Los Angeles to share with Lyn, and felt the need for a space of my own for keeping "treasures," small items I kept in small boxes. I drew up plans for "The Cave," a structure framed out of two by fours and stretched with cotton canvas. It was painted white perhaps in honor of a plaster wrist cast I wore briefly. The Cave occupied what would have been a dining room with boxes storing the objects around three walls with the white canvas structure fronting what became a hallway.
