Roman Painting

Being invited to show paintings in Rome, Italy, I recalled the colors of architecture in that city where I once lived. This series began with four vertical canvases that became Roman Painting I using colors traditionally those for representing flesh. Other works in the series were single or with multiple parts, the canvases vertical, the strokes as well, and again I was working all over the entire canvas several times.

Roman Painting I, o/c, each part 40x26", 1986

Roman Painting XVIII, o/c, each part 70x40", 1986

Roman Painting XVIII, o/c, 70x40", 1986
